Migrate whm reseller account to VPS? Migrate Multiple cPanel/WHM Accounts? Without any downtime
Have seen many people saying there hosting provider downtime is going on as they are migrating there servers but if you do the procedure carefully then you can prevent downtime. I just tried to explain how you can prevent downtime if you are a small scale hosting provider.
Case 1 Reseller Account to VPS Hosting
Before you continue login to your Reseller WHM account(old server) and change password of all accounts and make a note of each domain username & password. Then follow the instructions. In this case you don’t have access to SSH Server of your old hosting account (reseller account), so login to your new hosting WHM account as root.
Your WHM panel will just look like this, on left corner in the search bar type “copy” as shown in image then click on the link highlighted in the image. The option you will select will help you to transfer all mails, database, website files to the current new server, since you don’t the the access to the server with SSH, you cannot transfer multiple accounts at once. You will have to transfer each account separately, one by one. The following screen will appear once you click on “Copy an account from another server with an account password”
Open the file where you have kept all domain, username and password related with old reseller account, now fill up the form shown above as with values. For example your old server domains is “xyz.com” with “xyzcom” as username & “A12345” as password then in the above form you will fill up your data like this
Domain: xyz.com (used for Demo purpose)
IP: leave it blank if you dont know the IP address of your old server.
Username: xyzcom (used for Demo purpose)
Password: A12345 (used for Demo purpose)
If your new VPS server is configured properly then tick the checkbox “Give new account an IP address” else leave it blank. This option will set DNS Settings to the domain itself.
Do not untick “Permit fallback to old system”
Once you click on “Copy Account” button it will start the procedure and it will make a copy of old account located under your Old reseller account and will transfer it to New VPS WHM account. The procedure takes time as long as the host account size is, rarely happened that the WHM gets stuck in something, so don’t worry and keep patience.
It will give you the confirmation message once its done. Now follow the same procedure by clicking “Copy an account from another server with an account password” located at the left side and transfer the second domain.
Once all domain done! Change the domain DNS, so all your hosting account remains online and you can prevent downtime procedure. Note: 1. Check all accounts DNS Zone, sometimes DNS failed to add records automatically 2. Sometimes database migration failed too, so make sure all your hosting account working smooth and fine.
End of Case 1
Case 2 Migrating VPS WHM to Another VPS WHM
In this case you are smart inf to do this kind of stuff, so quickly login to your New VPS WHM account as root.
Then click on “Copy Multiple Accounts/Packages From Another Server” as shown in image above, once you click a new window will open just like shown below. Put your old VPS WHM Login credentials and wait till process completes.
